CLOTHES-OPTIONAL CHARITY WALK ON BEHALF OF “BREAST CANCER NOW” : EAST SUSSEX – Saturday 8th June, 2024
Following last year’s successful clothes-optional walk on behalf of “Shelter”, we shall be holding a new walk in 2024 over the same route, this time on behalf of the charity “Breast Cancer Now”. While this is a disease that can affect men, it is overwhelmingly a woman’s disease and the charity is very dear to many women, many of whom have survived the disease, thanks to the efforts of charities such as “Breast Cancer Now”.
We hope to see many women taking part in this walk including those whose lives may have been affected by breast cancer which will take place over part of the Cuckoo Trail in East Sussex, starting out from the car park opposite Waitrose in Station Road, Heathfield at 10.30 a.m. and walking a distance of some 6 and a half miles to Hellingly, north of Hailsham. There is an option of joining the walk at Horam some two miles along the route, reducing the walk distance to 4 and a half miles. It is anticipated that the walk will end around lunchtime.
To take part in the walk you are asked to purchase a ticket costing £10 of which only a small amount of just over 50p will go in administrative charges, all the rest goes to the charity. You are also encouraged to seek sponsorship from family and friends for which you may make use of a Just Giving page which will go live soon. Maybe such family and friends will agree to double their pledges of donations if you say you will do the walk naked !
You are reminded that it is perfectly legal to walk nude in public. Both the local district council and Sussex Police are aware that this event will take place.
I have prepared a document giving more detailed information about the walk such what you will need with you, arrangements for parking and for returning to the start at Heathfield and so on. Please let me know if you are interested in receiving this further information before making up your mind by emailing [email protected].
Please consider supporting this charity by joining this unconventional walk on 8th June along a delightfully attractive countryside trail, the route of a dismantled railway (and thus a flat walk with few and gentle inclines). While it is anticipated that many of us will walk naked as in 2023, you are reminded that no pressure will be brought to bear on anyone to undress so if you feel more comfortable walking clothed, then please do so.
Breast Cancer Now – our charity this year.
Breast Cancer Now, is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity and is dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We’re bringing together all those affected by the disease to improve the way we prevent, detect, treat and stop the disease.
